My first impression was amazement, they squeeze a LOT into the box, but the real eye opener was the quality of the plastic infantry, these were nothing short of brilliant.
I thought I'd have a stab at the figures, get them painted and gave a game, I've got them painted, I just need to put a paintbrush down long enough to have a game!
Here are the Germans;

The flags also came from eBay, however I was a little worried about the height difference, so added a small disc of platicard under the foundry figures to keep them in line.
For a change I thought it would look different to some of my other battalions to have a mounted officer on the command base, he started live as a victrix Austrian officer, before swapping torsos and adding a green stuff sash.
The ever reliable Internet, identified that the RWF kept the ribbons in their hair, for officers at least, I have added a small black ribbon in greenstuff,

I started this project a year past christmas when I got a couple of the boxes, I wanted to do a Brigade that had the most veriety and idealy it would be all Hussars.
The Perry figures are great and are a joy to paint, although the KGL suffered fromme losing my reading glasses which are really required for that close detail work.

Brunswick Artillery in Plastic
After attempting the french in Plastic, i had used two wheels and axles from the British Victrix Artillery set, which left me with a few spare guns.
The dutch used French/ Austrian style guns and I think there is a pretty strong case that the Brunswickers also used Austrian style guns, however it just possible that some of them might have used the British gun, and with that in mind I thought i'd give it a go.
I could't do Horse Artillery, as there were too many difference to overcome but foot Artillery would be possible.
For the gunners I'd use Perry's British Riflemen with French Shakos with the tufts added in green stuff and arms from the Victrix Artillery set.
The conversion took a little trimming of shoulder tufts and other bits and bobs to get them looking right, although the most challenging part was fitting the riflemen poses into Gunners, but with a little patience it fell into place.
As the Perry Rifles are in two basic poses I thought it might be better to have one gun loading and the other gun moving or being run out.
The guns would be 6pdrs straight out of the Victrix box.
For an officer I had a spare from the Perry Wounded Brunswickers kicking about in my bits box and he would do nicely as an officer in the Artillery.

I have been working on the 6th Brigade and wanted a figure to represent Sir Richard Vivian Hussey who commanded them at Waterloo,
I had hoped that the Perry Bros would do a command figure in Metal, but after waiting for a month or two I thought that that I'd use the plastic command figure from the hussar box set (available direct from the website for £5).
Hussey wore a uniform of the 7th Hussars which would make him look different from the rest of the Brigade, and to make him a little more different from the regular command I used one of the french hussars sword arms, raised the horse up making it rearing up slightly for a more dramatic effect and to make it look more like he was leading the troops forward.
In addition I though he would need a trumpeter to ensure he gets understood.
Forward the 6th!!!

The obvious starting point was the Victrix British Artillery box set, which will provide the Barrels, Wheels and Arms for the gunners. The Bodies will come from the Victrix's French Grenadier box set wearing Greatcoats. The headgear will come from left over french Infantry from either Victrix or Perry's french sets.
The Guns are a bit more of a challenge, I picked up some plasti-card from my local brick and Mortar Store (Wonderland in Edinburgh - can't recommend them highly enough)and using a Perry Bros Metal French gun as a template I created the gun bodies, although not at my first attempt and it took a few go's to get some thing i was happy with. Then the tricky bit, gluing them together in a 'Gun like' shape, being low on patients i tried to get it done in one night and had to abandon the effort in a 'Rage Quit'.
Trying again it was easier doing smaller bits. then the wheels were added. I used the axles from the BR Art set, which are built to match the wheels.
I was reasonably happy with the guns and ran a little green stuff along the edge of the plasti-card and across the gun as on the metal template.
The Gunners were next, I had a set of the Perry Miniature extra crew hauling Guns, that i had picked up at Claymore a few years ago and never found a use for, Some of these chaps would be pressed into service. The Remaining gunners would come from 2 Voltigeurs from the Perry French plastic set and the rest would be great coated Victrix.
I wanted the crews to look a little more rag-tag than my existing Artillery.
Looking back this was maybe a little more ambitious than i had realised at the outset and it took a lot longer than i had anticipated.
But it can be done and it's another one added to the list of 'possible' plastics with whats currently on the market.

6th Brigade were commanded by Sir Richard Vivian Hussey at Waterloo, the 6th Brigade (commanded by Sir Richard Vivian Hussey) was posted on Wellington's left flank.
In the late afternoon, Vivian's regiments, with those of Vandeleur's 4th Brigade, were moved to support the hard-pressed center of the line. After the repulse of Napoleon's Imperial Guard, Vivian's hussars made the final charge of the day between Hougomont and La Haye Sainte, sweeping everything before them.
These figures are from the perry British Hussar box set and are a joy to paint.
Next up is the 1st KGL then sir Vivian Hussey himself, I had been hoping that perry would do British cavalry commanders in metal, but I think I'll need to look elsewhere for my command.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Having been impressed by Victrix Austrians but not wanting to start a new army I thought I'd pick up a box and see if I couldn't work them into a regiment that fought at Waterloo.
Dutch militia looked the closest match, there were however a few obstacles to overcome; The jacket fronts are not square enough, there is the cross strap on the backpack to deal with, the trousers need to have the gaiters removed and the British Stovepipe Shakos need to have the sun burst motive added, phew quite a few things to look at, but not something that a little green stuff and a sharp knife can't fix!
I thought ha it would be nice to add a few great coated militia and some spares from the Victrix grenadiers set were just the thing to fill out the ranks.
Not too sure that its worked quite as well as I'd hoped the jackets were a bigger barrier than I had thought and now having seen the Perry Austrians I'm a little sorry I didn't wait for them. . . . .but I still need to do the 27th Chasseurs!

Nice change painting Metal rather than my usual hard plastic, the detail is a little more pronounced however undercoating them is a little more work than plastics.

Inspired by the Royal Scots museum where a life size model of the young Ensign made a real impression.
The Figures are from my spare box and are mostly victrix with quite a bit of green stuff to bring it all together.

To be fair, I haven't seen much of them in the flesh but what i have seen has suffered in comparisson to some other plastics on the market.
Seeing some Numidians on the web convinced me that that they worth a try.
I thought that it would be intresting to mix them togeter with some of the spares left over from the Warlord Greeks/Spartans, hers some of the results.

Following from the Spartans i thought i'd have a stab at some Greeks. Enjoyable to paint and i love the shield transfers that come with the set they really look good. more Spartans and Greeks on the workbench but with my summer holidays it might be a while before i get some paint on them.Kippers Minishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14662212431546136103noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823670766993305796.post-52043745028160495722012-06-15T06:32:00.001-07:002012-06-15T06:32:35.498-07:00<b>Warlord /Immortal Spartans</b>

I picked these up at Claymore more than a year ago and have taken a wee while to get round to painting them. I was really pleased with how they came out, I was a bit unsure how much time to spend on them and decided that less was more. I tried a Brown undercoat to start and a heavy wash of brown ink to finish and was pleasantly surprised that they look ok considering the limited effort on my part.Kippers Minishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14662212431546136103noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823670766993305796.post-87495314306829141842012-03-01T11:45:00.001-08:002012-03-01T11:48:47.696-08:00d’Erlons I Corps/ 1st Division at Waterloo<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHFid4O6TDPO3OZndTRDsnTGRncVLs_lhp5okhbJbs9MNupDsnUzbjrv5I0Yk_zsRRCG6QAHwWT5ytqMnbXOS0f1HzEExXNArlUADSAeebTVogIP6VLFjJJW0UrYKVnG3Q9pNSZp0lgJTu/s1600/brigades+059.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 218px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHFid4O6TDPO3OZndTRDsnTGRncVLs_lhp5okhbJbs9MNupDsnUzbjrv5I0Yk_zsRRCG6QAHwWT5ytqMnbXOS0f1HzEExXNArlUADSAeebTVogIP6VLFjJJW0UrYKVnG3Q9pNSZp0lgJTu/s400/brigades+059.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715017817176207234" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivPq4upFrci2s-ZHA5YwAGRvOA_T_IUriyD7vtQmjawR7un6e-6ueA_aUIt7QIdMXzvT8GQqY1InssCbI4UZOsMwKtSG6Q4qIojimVakKjd7naimJGv2PKaGKt7iaEC0hewwfeaZKww-qK/s1600/brigades+057.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 184px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivPq4upFrci2s-ZHA5YwAGRvOA_T_IUriyD7vtQmjawR7un6e-6ueA_aUIt7QIdMXzvT8GQqY1InssCbI4UZOsMwKtSG6Q4qIojimVakKjd7naimJGv2PKaGKt7iaEC0hewwfeaZKww-qK/s400/brigades+057.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715017809254750370" /></a><br />1st Brigade Colonel Claude Charlet (acting Commander)<br />1er and 2e Bataillons, 54e Régiment de Ligne and 1er and 2e Bataillons, 55e Régiment de Ligne (Colonel Jean-Pierre Monneret)<br /><br />Perry Miniatures French infantry with some command figures from Victrix old guard thrown in to add veriety.<br />Supported by Kellermans Heavy brigade in the background.Kippers Minishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14662212431546136103noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823670766993305796.post-34143407571707619922012-01-26T14:09:00.000-08:002012-01-26T14:19:20.196-08:00British 9th Brigade (Pack) at Waterloo<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQbJeFeCcgU11VNAnKOfA4z7DoGiH8LCab_MPv0Z7SoDg4QAsVXWjdrBCqEYLVVcaHjdZtftG46a0P-TIo8j_1LlI2ci_ADGhIyk8d827MH76SjjQ6xkBmZOBegaDXUrZJWvt1Gb68NOkW/s1600/brigades+035.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 202px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQbJeFeCcgU11VNAnKOfA4z7DoGiH8LCab_MPv0Z7SoDg4QAsVXWjdrBCqEYLVVcaHjdZtftG46a0P-TIo8j_1LlI2ci_ADGhIyk8d827MH76SjjQ6xkBmZOBegaDXUrZJWvt1Gb68NOkW/s400/brigades+035.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5702068353333581314" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTV_-6AEXueSAP0MGieR3W9217YuTIL2YU1IylLOVI1wqmUPWOkuCTWqrJ6tTLEVModM13Ay6ULtIBuQVp3orKqkwGaSqrRRdtv8_o2z7hgvfNShnHuB-iPRFPkPOlYUAtT59ztPodG9gT/s1600/brigades+047.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 164px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTV_-6AEXueSAP0MGieR3W9217YuTIL2YU1IylLOVI1wqmUPWOkuCTWqrJ6tTLEVModM13Ay6ULtIBuQVp3orKqkwGaSqrRRdtv8_o2z7hgvfNShnHuB-iPRFPkPOlYUAtT59ztPodG9gT/s400/brigades+047.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5702068342368457666" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEielR86pSWpmPUsyJHvR9Cxggz42ewpwEUHEuhtheUfHRgCKUV26OEXDut9md19XX97mc5n_VVqzZdKq8KLXUkDa8GqWQLCkRqMKnRG_IYZ2JXAR2TK8oVuM2yNt57IISfYbUcuVjgI88Ie/s1600/brigades+051.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 242px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEielR86pSWpmPUsyJHvR9Cxggz42ewpwEUHEuhtheUfHRgCKUV26OEXDut9md19XX97mc5n_VVqzZdKq8KLXUkDa8GqWQLCkRqMKnRG_IYZ2JXAR2TK8oVuM2yNt57IISfYbUcuVjgI88Ie/s400/brigades+051.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5702068336300152370" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5RDTSMGJa_bGdbMK04j75fBqGN5RhCe2bsyeUkMa3PRJCJcPBx6tXdBSQlHlFVdj7z6IQlskZpc8BWDZvRW1ULT-PSDNjOKTzttyNBj9XqqZEvH79fBsVGysB8U8J4TlrCABBEM5AVSnn/s1600/brigades+041.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 189px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5RDTSMGJa_bGdbMK04j75fBqGN5RhCe2bsyeUkMa3PRJCJcPBx6tXdBSQlHlFVdj7z6IQlskZpc8BWDZvRW1ULT-PSDNjOKTzttyNBj9XqqZEvH79fBsVGysB8U8J4TlrCABBEM5AVSnn/s400/brigades+041.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5702068324397551714" /></a><br />The 2nd Brigade in Picton's Division at Waterloo. Having just completed the 1st Battalion / 28th North Gloucestershire (using Victrix figures) It would be a good opportunity to get some pictures Taken.<br />I have completed the Kempts’ 8th and Packs’ 9th Brigades and I’m working through the 5th Hanoverian Brigade and hope to have this finished by the spring.Kippers Minishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14662212431546136103noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823670766993305796.post-34514476010472550722011-12-18T15:00:00.000-08:002011-12-19T10:41:39.565-08:00Nassau<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCAqD_0zO1jpihNpFpgSPe7MguutCaf_lT8qdmxOe7aR5F1FyITAmpfCVQ-frlRL4wCv3V9rc924I32eArA9IcL93IIgzeYeGI3ePI71XVsEjdNqx1Jgd90kNwSWhKcV88_L2B1StsikV1/s1600/Sunday+20+149.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687609164979135906" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCAqD_0zO1jpihNpFpgSPe7MguutCaf_lT8qdmxOe7aR5F1FyITAmpfCVQ-frlRL4wCv3V9rc924I32eArA9IcL93IIgzeYeGI3ePI71XVsEjdNqx1Jgd90kNwSWhKcV88_L2B1StsikV1/s400/Sunday+20+149.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3NhoDIHdUx6NCKsdQN7nisnSyT93BXAun9dAUKijyDC-22XM9Ik-9xoBLj4-GDSA_YnNf0HWUY95jBooCFl4OuPmfZ1lKOglYHcnMX8Iy-1dX0-sGDIKH54ZdBTpGnXR8U5h69esSoqmP/s1600/Sunday+20+147.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687609154030082786" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3NhoDIHdUx6NCKsdQN7nisnSyT93BXAun9dAUKijyDC-22XM9Ik-9xoBLj4-GDSA_YnNf0HWUY95jBooCFl4OuPmfZ1lKOglYHcnMX8Iy-1dX0-sGDIKH54ZdBTpGnXR8U5h69esSoqmP/s400/Sunday+20+147.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkhx2qUjDZpUqVR-gaWZLowvdYKm0Jgibp3h_tor_z94arlnd9OdnDB3TPPvp9j-nj_OdTLp6omZLYXevDqm69qttEjIQNOmGg8TMU6wxV00HOQFgWBV8HpRCmfwv_1z34sSeKzFKfcnwg/s1600/Sunday+20+136.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687609150831629170" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 146px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkhx2qUjDZpUqVR-gaWZLowvdYKm0Jgibp3h_tor_z94arlnd9OdnDB3TPPvp9j-nj_OdTLp6omZLYXevDqm69qttEjIQNOmGg8TMU6wxV00HOQFgWBV8HpRCmfwv_1z34sSeKzFKfcnwg/s400/Sunday+20+136.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuv5h6BMkRhm2CU2IfCK5LXQQeiSpaS_dlmhVaCkHeTZSx05AguSnbieqGvJO3Bw11876Jry4_r7rsd_A3bQ21MyZJCx2iI0dx4WSj_kUZqyoMqsfYHSw0wHr0DUN6qhVXTm9EJ5tWe6-p/s1600/Sunday+20+134.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5687609146517354402" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 171px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuv5h6BMkRhm2CU2IfCK5LXQQeiSpaS_dlmhVaCkHeTZSx05AguSnbieqGvJO3Bw11876Jry4_r7rsd_A3bQ21MyZJCx2iI0dx4WSj_kUZqyoMqsfYHSw0wHr0DUN6qhVXTm9EJ5tWe6-p/s400/Sunday+20+134.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div><br /><br />2nd Naussau-Usingen Regiment<br /><br />I had bought a box of the Victrix French (1807-1812) Infantry to provide some variety to my Perry French infantry. However as the Perry are in the post 1812 uniform they are quite different and while a single unit in the older uniform might have been ok, I felt that they didn't look right for my Waterloo.<br /><br />Having converted units of Belgian line, Dutch Militia, Brunswick Hussars and Dutch / Belgian Carabiners from the plastics on the market at the time I thought there was a potential to convert these chaps into some allied infantry. The Nassau contingent are shown in Hawthornwaites uniforms of Waterloo in both the pre and post 1812 French style uniform so it didn't feel like a great stretch to put them in the pre 1812 uniform.<br /><br />While the French uniform differs from the Nassau uniform is that the French has a double set of buttons with the Nassau having a single row down the front. This I can cope with, and can be corrected with a little trimming.<br />The Backpacks are in the French style so no problems there, however they are equipped with 'British' style haversacks and canteens as well as the French Short Swords. From the set I can muster enough short swords to equip the flank companies on both battalions, the rest will do without.<br />The Haversacks and canteens I made from Greenstuff, (For the canteens I used a cocktail straw snipped down and filled with greenstuff). I carried the haversack strap all the way to the shoulder as the Nassau troops looked like they had cross belts rather than the single belt for the French Centre companies.<br />The Colpacks were taken from the spares from the Hussar set. With a little bit of trimming / remodelling on the cap bag.<br /><br />This was much more work than I had counted on and I struggled to raise the enthusiasm to finish. Having bought the command for both battalions in metal from Perry Mins I felt I had to see it through and with gritted teeth I managed to finish both battalions.<br /><br />Having fully completed both now I feel that a more uniform approach to the battalions might have resulted in a better overall look but I'll put this one down to experience.Kippers Minishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14662212431546136103noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823670766993305796.post-71523369031601262192011-11-29T13:05:00.000-08:002011-11-29T13:29:13.097-08:00French 2nd Dragoons<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA21tp3249uZLxJLtHPrKoCcuVLUbJ0f_cGhNZkOoDZqtiTcdfGtxCf3PWkubIF1NwmK_G_GdJA7b11VioHMB0aVsnacTmpDpMorqISWUmf76GFsUcoskoObqs9GTpfRSQMr7YnMp3dpe5/s1600/Sunday+20+104.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA21tp3249uZLxJLtHPrKoCcuVLUbJ0f_cGhNZkOoDZqtiTcdfGtxCf3PWkubIF1NwmK_G_GdJA7b11VioHMB0aVsnacTmpDpMorqISWUmf76GFsUcoskoObqs9GTpfRSQMr7YnMp3dpe5/s400/Sunday+20+104.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680531036898489218" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFiYSxy37abZ4_Pm-dXov6G39xNVtZnPqIXSprO9l27VK7qd93UNuZ-q58xpghgn2pA7Ro7-nO1iYApRVbe7b7qzVQoX3aARKNatB8edIWeNHuEI7KUHeHyt9rrwzCEIbnzSs-VAmUnRr1/s1600/Sunday+20+118.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFiYSxy37abZ4_Pm-dXov6G39xNVtZnPqIXSprO9l27VK7qd93UNuZ-q58xpghgn2pA7Ro7-nO1iYApRVbe7b7qzVQoX3aARKNatB8edIWeNHuEI7KUHeHyt9rrwzCEIbnzSs-VAmUnRr1/s400/Sunday+20+118.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680531030528722994" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9N7mtJnYaVaFYvvV5sJPCEyw-z0xjVapDiS6Gn_5_MGtdl_sB4exvrugLWAxMlqgz8U4kp69sh_qFNlLrYe4jRznj1yceLw3lnp_PbRrUiczlaUUW5focHxPMAGEEq6KBBwGcR91IQwBg/s1600/Sunday+20+112.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9N7mtJnYaVaFYvvV5sJPCEyw-z0xjVapDiS6Gn_5_MGtdl_sB4exvrugLWAxMlqgz8U4kp69sh_qFNlLrYe4jRznj1yceLw3lnp_PbRrUiczlaUUW5focHxPMAGEEq6KBBwGcR91IQwBg/s400/Sunday+20+112.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680531026208321042" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikWRqWvJJEmNznQrLvZye-Y81BrymBctMpDAVjb5M0205ie1UeTS8C4UCOUM9uods8rC4D8tCPOPqmVyTdNFVjGeBDYYRJQOzWU8Cb6j8vD9EIZL8UwfQUunjvuSftjiNfe4b2YNqbrxGE/s1600/Sunday+20+108.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikWRqWvJJEmNznQrLvZye-Y81BrymBctMpDAVjb5M0205ie1UeTS8C4UCOUM9uods8rC4D8tCPOPqmVyTdNFVjGeBDYYRJQOzWU8Cb6j8vD9EIZL8UwfQUunjvuSftjiNfe4b2YNqbrxGE/s400/Sunday+20+108.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680531016836437090" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRKTlEjjE94RC02AWPEqJ-po1ORpvLJQDea_GOAgTgvYg2GGmLGWhkF_9zWaLdYt0JE44v5AvEMW2DrjycMVnrFAvvdafz0ho4EFewLjD-JeIOwBBwxF-RviuqoHVxqWJYNUiQvmI-tWzT/s1600/Sunday+20+106.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRKTlEjjE94RC02AWPEqJ-po1ORpvLJQDea_GOAgTgvYg2GGmLGWhkF_9zWaLdYt0JE44v5AvEMW2DrjycMVnrFAvvdafz0ho4EFewLjD-JeIOwBBwxF-RviuqoHVxqWJYNUiQvmI-tWzT/s400/Sunday+20+106.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680531011098280770" /></a><br />I had bought these with an eye on converting them to lancers but thought better of it after a test figure. It's a great story and had me thinking about recreating it in miniature using some spares from the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Victrix</span> box set.<div>For anyone in or around Edinburgh or visiting the city there are two great museums that have a Waterloo connection, in addition to the Royal Scots there is another Ensign celebrated in the Scots Grays Museum which includes the eagle captured at Waterloo by Sargent Charles Ewart well worth a look for anyone with an interest in the period.<br /> <div><br /></div></div>Kippers Minishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14662212431546136103noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3823670766993305796.post-76903752918680231872011-11-10T11:12:00.000-08:002011-11-10T11:24:11.808-08:00Napoleon's Old Guard Chasseurs<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWQ2b92X2fRmgoWXwzL9nFJ99u-cKXKdBA1TKn9qVogaSU-uxzyY7Qp1G5VzEMXjVecy9TmDbx6U5GmkEuLClPvcZQsY51ocXSAi4ubQVegWppE8xK4MlhUahzEfQVLBK5RvszGzvKV60c/s1600/november+2011+309.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 298px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWQ2b92X2fRmgoWXwzL9nFJ99u-cKXKdBA1TKn9qVogaSU-uxzyY7Qp1G5VzEMXjVecy9TmDbx6U5GmkEuLClPvcZQsY51ocXSAi4ubQVegWppE8xK4MlhUahzEfQVLBK5RvszGzvKV60c/s400/november+2011+309.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5673448540464643682" /></a>These figures are from the Victrix Plastic Chasseurs set. <div>This box set for me really underlines the progress that Victrix have made in quite short space of time.
