Sir Richard Vivian Hussey

I have been working on the 6th Brigade and wanted a figure to represent Sir Richard Vivian Hussey who commanded them at Waterloo, I had hoped that the Perry Bros would do a command figure in Metal, but after waiting for a month or two I thought that that I'd use the plastic command figure from the hussar box set (available direct from the website for £5). Hussey wore a uniform of the 7th Hussars which would make him look different from the rest of the Brigade, and to make him a little more different from the regular command I used one of the french hussars sword arms, raised the horse up making it rearing up slightly for a more dramatic effect and to make it look more like he was leading the troops forward. In addition I though he would need a trumpeter to ensure he gets understood. Forward the 6th!!!

  2. Excellent use of an existing figure for the conversion. Love the flamboyant uniform of this particular officer. Great work as always. Best, Dean

  3. Marvellous. Really like them. I was hoping the Perry's would come up with some more special British commanders figures for Waterloo - they do them for other countries. Vivian had his arm in a sling at Waterloo!

  4. Lord Hill, you know I'm going to have to a figure with his arm in a sling now! . . . Right arm or left arm?

  5. "En route I was attacked by one of the Cuirassiers whom we had passed. I was fortunate enough to give him a thrust in the neck with my left hand (for my right was in a sling, and I was just capable of holding the reins with it only) and at that moment I was joined by my little German orderly, who cut the fellow off his horse." Right arm in a sling at Waterloo in consequence of a wound received leading the charge at Croix d'Orade in 1814. Was riding a grey troop horse of the 10th by the end of the day. That's all I have!
